APT TECHNOLOGIES PRESENTS PAY-AS-YOU-GO EVOLT CHARGING FOR ELECTRIC VEHICLES

APT Technologies, supplier of the Evolt range of electric vehicle charging solutions, is to launch a dedicated pay-as-you-go network that will simplify the on-the-move charging experience for drivers of electric vehicles.

Meeting the need for publicly available charging points away from home or work, Evolt has teamed up with electronic money provider sQuid to enable drivers to access charging facilities and pay to be ‘re-charged' in much the same way as one would refuel at a petrol station.

Users pay a nominal registration fee (either in advance or on site) of £5 for a sQuid card that gives them unlimited use of the network, with no requirement for additional monthly payment subscriptions of any kind, as Justin Meyer of APT Technologies explains:

“sQuid cards use the latest smartcard technology to make almost instantaneous payment,” he says. “Drivers will be able to safely and securely pre-load electronic money onto a sQuid card, before making contactless payment for their electric consumption.

“Drivers will also have the means to manage their account online,” he continues, “including monitoring their balance, reviewing their spend and topping up their card.”

Justin believes that this solution will further increase the appeal of a transition to EV travel: “The simplicity and modernity of the Evolt pay-as-you-go system is sure to smooth the way to a wider take-up of electric vehicles, and boost confidence in the numerous advantages of this technology.”

There are also substantial benefits for companies that choose to host a pay-as-you-go Evolt facility on their own site: “Evolt pay-as-you-go can create an additional source of revenue for companies that install a charging facility at their premises, whilst also attracting EV drivers to their location,” explains Justin.

“Since drivers do not have to pre-register before arriving at the on-site charger, nor pay any kind of monthly subscription fee, the convenience of the pay-as-you-go Evolt charger will appeal to all EV drivers,” he concludes, “even those already subscribed to other charging services, because they will have nothing to lose from also registering for Evolt pay-as-you-go.”
